Letter from EHFB President
Dear friends and supporters,
Extended Hands Food Bank is planning to increase its abilities to meet the demands of the present challenges. The truth is; THE NEED IS GROWING, THE RESOURCES ARE DIMINISHING! This has become an all too familiar phrase in our economy. It’s heart-breaking to hear the stories as many are falling on hard times. Everyday we come face to face with the desperation families are experiencing. Our numbers are up 30% from this time last year and 200% from 5 years ago. Most of our service is now to the unemployed. Families are waiting outside 30 minutes before we open. Needless to say, the challenges are ever increasing to serve the good people of Fountain Hills, North Scottsdale and the surrounding areas.
I believe it is only right to keep you informed as to what we are doing to stay ahead of the crisis our nation is facing.
•We host a monthly garage sale at the food bank selling donated items.
•Install a central walk-in freezer and cooler that are pallet accessible
•Construct a commercial kitchen (we have most of the equipment), we will also offer training for career change opportunities
•Reopen “Jim-Bob’s Famous Fish and Chips” on Friday nights (this was a wonderful fund raiser)
This endeavor will require financial investment; any funds you could send us will greatly help us be cost effective and efficient for the future. For additional information and how you can help, please contact us. A plaque will be displayed for all contributors giving $500.00 or more. All giving is tax deductable.
Sincerely,

David W. Iverson/Director
