FAQ:
What is a Food Bank Volunteer?
Volunteers give generously of their time, raising awareness of the realities of hunger and poverty. Volunteers are essential to Food Bank operations, supporting the organization in sorting, boxing and bagging food, as well as providing administrative and fundraising support.
Who may volunteer?
Volunteering is perfect for individuals, families and groups. Clubs, associations, sororities, and fraternities can increase their community presence through volunteering while meeting philanthropic objectives. We also encourage clubs and restaurants to host food drives!
May groups volunteer?
We are happy to accommodate groups of 8 people! Please contact Allyson Iverson at (480)340-1787 to schedule a date and time!
May children volunteer?
Young people are welcome at the Food Bank to volunteer with a family member. Please review the following supervision guidelines:
Ages 6 to 15: Must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
Above 16 years of age: An adult chaperone is not required.
May students conduct a field trip to tour & volunteer at the Food Bank?
Junior High and High School students are welcome! Volunteerism teaches civic duty and respect while developing leadership skills.
When may I volunteer?
A variety of volunteer opportunities are available throughout the year. Hunger is an ongoing issue that never takes a holiday, so the Food Bank is in need of volunteers year round. As of right now, we are in need of more volunteers during summertime!
What should I wear?
Volunteers should wear comfortable clothes. Closed-toe shoes are required; sandals are not allowed. Please wear appropriate shorts, jeans and tee shirts (i.e. no spaghetti straps or tank tops).
